Enjoying Women's Walks

As part of International Women’s Day celebrations, bushwalking clubs organised women’s walks around NSW. The aim was to introduce women to the joys of walking together while exploring beautiful places. Our club hosted two events: around Mummuga Lake in Dalmeny and at Corunna Point, a lovely location and where one of the first cycling velodromes was built by the community in 1892. Of course, everyone is welcome to join us on a walk. Just check the program for details.

Baronda Head, Mimosa Rocks National Park

Late summer is a perfect time to walk in the southern section of Mimosa Rocks. Baronda Head is the dominant feature but the area offers a variety of coastal landscapes, including interesting geology, tall forests and a healthy lagoon.

Big Hole and Marble Arch

Often the club travels away for a couple of nights to explore areas just outside our region. Recently, several members went to Deua National Park, southwest of Braidwood, to enjoy the walks to the Big Hole and Marble Arch. Cool and misty conditions added to the charm of this interesting 11 km return walk.

Whittakers Catchment, Bodalla State Forest

On a gorgeous Autumn day, walkers enjoyed exploring the catchment area of Whittakers Creek in Bodalla State Forest. This region is a regular feature on the club’s walk program because it is so tranquil and interesting, yet so close to home.
